How to move the Guardian Firewall + VPN application into the global applications folder on macOS.
Learn to successfully move the Guardian application into the /Applications folder

If you’ve installed the Guardian Firewall application on your Mac but it is located in a folder other than the global applications folder located at /Applications, we recommend moving the application. Moving the application into the correct folder will ensure the application functions properly. As part of the Guardian Firewall version 1.2 update this will be the required installation path to guarantee compatibility with future updates.

Please follow these steps to move the Guardian Firewall application into the /Applications folder.

Step 1: Locate the Application

  • Open a Finder window
  • Navigate to the application’s current install location. In most cases, the application will be in the Downloads folder.
  • You might also find the application in another location if it was saved elsewhere (by searching in Finder and right-clicking to select ‘Show in enclosing folder’).

Step 2: Move the Guardian Firewall app into /Applications

  • Quit the Guardian Firewall app
  • Open a second Finder window
  • Click on “Applications” in the left sidebar. Alternatively, you can press (Shift + Command + A) to open the folder directly.
  • Drag & drop the Guardian Firewall app into the /Applications folder.
